OUR LEADERS

Our Leaders

Our church is not led by a single individual. Instead, we believe that the church flourishes when led by a plurality of humble leaders. Historically and biblically, the church has had two offices of leadership: elders and deacons.

Elders lead, feed, protect, and care for the church by modeling Christlike character and pointing to the hope of Jesus. We believe that eldership in the church is reserved for qualified, humble men.

A deacon is a Christian who holds the role or office of “lead servant” in a local church. The essential work of a deacon, therefore, is one who identifies and meets practical needs as they arise in the church so that the church is able to faithfully follow the calling of Jesus in every area. The work of deacons promotes and protects the unity of the church, identifies and responds to practical needs arising in the church, and supports the ministry of the Word in the church.
